Service Description
Some conditions affecting the heart muscle or electrical rhythm can be inherited. Our Genetic Cardiac Risk Test uses next-generation sequencing to investigate a wide-ranging panel associated with inherited cardiac conditions. Results can inform discussions with a cardiologist and may also be relevant to family members. Who is it for? Individuals with suspected or confirmed inherited cardiac disease, a family history of heart conditions or unexplained sudden cardiac death, or unexplained cardiac symptoms requiring specialist investigation. What is tested? An extensive sequencing panel covering more than 100 genetic variants associated with inherited cardiac conditions, including genes such as MYH7, MYBPC3, LMNA and SCN5A. What is included? Specialist laboratory analysis, comprehensive results with full clinical interpretation, and a complimentary genetic counsellor appointment. Important: This test is not a general cardiovascular health check. A negative result does not rule out a cardiac condition; specialist assessment may still be needed.
